Rarely one to paint a boring sky here Blackie Sticks captures the dark clouds of an approaching storm which threaten to engulf Bass Rock off North Berwick. Gannets patrol below the ruins of the old castle/prison and above the heavy swell of the realistically coloured green sea. Signed and dated 1892.
