Fabulous atmospheric Scarbrough oil painting of the Pool of London (upper pool) and Tower Bridge. As the day dawns he really captures the industry of the Thames with the river already busy and skies smoky. It appears to have been painted from just below London Bridge, more than likely from a moored barge. Frederick William Scarbrough often painted this stretch of the Thames in watercolours but this a rare work in oils. Signed lower right and annotated 'Pool of London', lower left.
