Portrait of the 'City of Amor' in the English Channel with The Needles in the background. Typical example of this artist's work. City of Amor was built on the Clyde in 1863 by Barclay Curle and Co and operated by George Smith and Co. of the City Line of steam and sailing ships. It was lost off the Falkland Islands in 1872.
