Second of a pair (actually the width is about 1/2 inch smaller than the other one). Very much the specialist in country scenes often small and depicting farmyard birds and animals and painting on panel - this is a typical example. Painted on a good flat oak panel. Clearly signed and dated 1878 and annotated on the reverse and signed again. Well presented in a suitably plain, handmade, antiqued frame.
