Passeggiata dei Monaci, the monks walk, Cappuccini monastery, Amalfi. A woman tends to the vines as the artist samples the wine and paints. Established as Cisterian abbey in 1223, Cappuchine Friars were custodians for three hundred years before it became a hotel towards the end of the 19th century - quite probably where Rowe stayed. Today, the 5 star Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi. Signed lower right and with Dowdeswell and Dowdeswell label.
