One of the artists responsible for paving the way to Scottish views after an 'expedition' to the Outer Isles at the early part of the nineteenth century. Edward Train rarely painted large views and the smaller pictures have a particular charm and appeal. Not dated but our educated guess is circa 1840 - 1850.
