Edward Train (1801-1866)
By the Shore, in the Hebrides
Medium: Oil on panel
Size without frame: 10.0" x 14.0"
SOLD
One of the main Northern artists to have been involved in depicting the Highlands, Train's love of that area came about after an early trip to the Hebrides. We believe this one - one of a pair we have - stems from that influence and shows a Western Shore - probably in the Hebrides. Painted in oils, it is under glass over a slip and is framed in a beautiful double swept. Signed and dated 1855 in red - a common practice with the artist.
