Superb Thompson slightly different from the usual and with fabulous colouring. It came from the same collection as Sty Head pass summit and certainly together they make a lovely pair. One of three paintings fresh to the market having been held by family members since their purchase, probably directly from the artist or one of his Lake District vendors in the 1930's. This one is titled "Passing gleams. Sparkling tarns on Scafell with Great Gable in the background" verso in the artist's hand. (Most likely also once had an E. H. Thompson studio label, sadly lost.) Signed, lower left.
