A somewhat unusual work by Dudley Hardy, signed and also inscribed 'Langham Sketch Club', which was founded in 1838. Apparently, the illustrious members of this club sat down at 7pm prompt every Friday evening in the winter and sketched for 2 hours - hence the inscription on this painting - after which the artists all sat down to a cold dinner and much beer drinking. In 1898 they had a great falling out as to whether the dinner should be cold or hot and many, including Dudley Hardy, went off to form the London Sketch Club!
