One of the noted marine artist's favourite subjects, a view of the Cornish coast. In the lee of a distinctive headland (as yet unidentified, drop us a line if you know where it is) a Cornish lugger lags behind the rest of the fishing fleet as it fights against the onshore winds that are whipping up the sea. James captures the green hues of the sea so characteristic of sandy-bottomed inshore Cornish waters in summertime. Signed and dated 'D.James 86' lower right.
