David Farquharson (1839-1907)

David Farquharson was a Scottish landscape painter who was born in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. Initially a painter and decorator he took up landscape painting and was largely self-taught, without any formal training. He painted Scottish glens and Highlands' landscapes in all their weather conditions. Farquharson exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and, from 1877, at the Royal Academy (32 works). Today represented at the Scottish National Gallery, the Tate, the museums and art galleries of Glasgow. Aberdeen, Perth, Sheffield, Ulster, Russell-Cotes, the Dick Institute and the Fleming Collection.
