An autumnal day in the Lake District with the dark clouds of a storm approaching the flanks of Fleetwith Pike. Probably painted from the Hassness estate whose owner George Beeson had his men cut a 30 metre tunnel through the crags in the 1880s simply so he could walk around the lake shore. Lightly cleaned, relined, signed and dated 1888, lower right.
