Charles William Adderton (1866-1944)
An accomplished watercolourist adderton began exhibiting near Derby in 1884 and 1902. Briefly ,in 1894 ,he worked from a Scarborough studio but in 1920 he is recorded as being in Nottingham and it was while here he exhibited his gretest number of paintings at the Nottingham City Art Gallery- 226 works in all. He also exhibited at the BI,GL,M,RI,RBA, and seven works in the Royal Academy.He is also recorded in The dictionary of Victorian Painters as having exhibited at the Suffolk Street Gallery and at The New Watercolour Society. This later became the RI as afore mentioned and Suffolk Street became RBA.
