A superb Charles Napier Hemy watercolour immediately recognisable by the translucent water below the boat's keel - almost a hallmark. C.N.H. loved all things sea and fishing, even owning a boat,'Vandervelde', which he used as a floating studio when in Falmouth. Elected RA and RWS, many regard him as the best marine artist of his era.
The painiting was lightly cleaned and backed onto acid-free paper in 2011 and on this occassion we have not removed it from the frame to photograph. As such, the behind-the-glass images do not fully reflect Napier's skill with watercolours. Gorgeously framed in a Frinton 'chippendale' frame and bearing the original title and signature retrieved from the original backing board. A wonderful item for any collector.
