Delicate still life watercolour of pink roses. The inscription on the back reads the painting was given by the artist's mother, President of the Woman's Branch, North Newcastle Conservative Association, to the Sheriff of Newcastle William Temple and his wife for "courage shown by them". Intriguing! Signed and dated, 1879, lower right.
