A man fly fishes for trout on a fast moving North Wales trout stream as his friend, or possibly ghillie, ties a fly on another rod. Aged just 19 this is a very early work of de Breanski Snr who often painted in Wales at the beginning of his career in the early 1870's. As with his other early works it is not inscribed on the back of the canvas but in his own handwriting on a label on the frame - see another work of the same period in our archive. Signed and dated '71/72, lower left.
