This is an example of Alfred de Breanski Senior's work dated about 1873. At that time he spent quite a time in Wales as the Royal Academy exhibits he painted then testify. It was there that he met his wife. He did not sign and inscribe this painting on the reverse as he did, almost always, later in his career, but the original label, doubtless in his own writing, on the stretcher is quite clear. The work is signed on the front on the bottom right. The style is quite precise and very much of that date, quite in the style of the renowned landscape painter F R Lee. This painting has a wonderful light and peaceful mood and shows his great mastery already at the early age of about 21. In excellent condition and it only required a light clean when we acquired it from a foreign country.
