Alexander Mark Rossi (fl 1870-1903)

Alexander M Rossi was born in Lancashire and worked at the local art school there. In 1875 he moved to Shepherd's Bush, London. Alexander Rossi specialized in genre paintings, often depicting children and their parents. His style in these paintings reflects both the traditional Academy method and the looser brushwork and colours of the Impressionists.

Rossi exhibited 66 works at the Royal Academy between including A Letter from the Camp (1882), A Cinderella (1885), The Little Lovers (1888), Caught in the Tide (1889) and Forbidden Books (1897).

Rossi exhibited 47 oil and watercolour paintings at the Royal Society of British Artists between 1870 and 1893.
