A sensitive little watercolour displaying fine draughtsmanship.
Sold as 'attributed', being unsigned, but from his unmistakable hand. For comparison, a page from British 19th century Marine Painting by Denys Brook-Hart: same boat, headland and shore, and clean line.
Markes' signature tended to be quite prominent so perhaps he omitted it because of the diminutive size ?
