A small and very beautiful watercolour by Albert Durer Lucas. Titled 'Summer in Arcadia' home of the Greek god Pan who, as we're sure everyone will recall, was the Greek god of the wild (associated with nature, shepherds, music). Pan was a companion of the nymphs, one of which is painted here by Durer Lucas surrounded by harebells, common centuary and agrimony - helpfully for identification Lucas inscribed their names at the base. Signed and dated, 1880, lower right. Provenance: J S Maas and Co Ltd, London.
