Myles Birket Foster R.W.S. (1825-1899)
A Young Waltonian

Medium: Watercolour
Size without frame: 4.8" x 7.0"
Size including frame: 12.3" x 13.8"
SOLD

Beautiful Birkett Foster watercolour in lovely condition, of a fisherman by a small bridge. The expression 'Waltonian' refers to Izaak Walton who was born around 1594 and died in 1683. He wrote the highly influential 'Compleat Angler' which was a celebration of the art and spirit of angling, written in prose and verse. Sure everybody knew that already!

Provenance: The Ledger Galleries, Old Bond Street, London. Also, a private collection at Blandford Forum, Dorset.
