Not the 'politically correct' title in these modern times, but Gilroy occasionally portrayed these colourful subjects who were possibly part of the famous Newcastle Town Moor 'Hoppings',one of the largest fairground gatherings where travellers from the length and breadth of the country meet and set up every year.
The frame is original and though looking its age it feels right to the canvas.
