A wonderful historic, 'en grisaille', painting almost certainly done in John Charlton's capacity as a war artist. His illustrations were used in 'The Graphic', a weekly illustrated newspaper which ran from 1869 - 1953. Of course it would not have been reproduced in colour. A real collector's item.
* Note: The truer colour is that of the thumbnail as the framed picture was taken indoors due to adverse weather.We are happy to correct this given the opportunity!
