A rare Far Eastern subject by this predominantly marine painter. In fresh condition and with amazingly strong colours. While on active service, Mason produced many sketches of the Middle East which were later produced as gouache studies and commissions from the Imperial War Museum. This study of the Pyramids near Cairo probably stems from that period and would date to about 1920 to 1925.
